Mr Tlhabadira delivered the keynote address in
the first section of the programme. The X-Reality
(XR) Lab was invited to organise exhibits through
him as a delegate of TUT. The XR Lab team
demonstrated the capabilities of Virtual-Reality
(VR) in technical and vocational training. Both
the welding jigs and the RBPM module were
demonstrated via the HTC Vive Pro. Additionally,
information about the Black Industrialist Training
Program was also conveyed.
Learners had the chance to be immersed and
learn how to use VR to perform an assembly
operation of the top-bracket, an elementary railcar
component. During their immersion, Modiba and
Ovi facilitated the exercise. Mr Tlhabadira, Ms
Motile, Mr Rakgokgo, Mr Saka and Mr Skosana
interacted with lecturers, government officials,
SMMEs and other stakeholders who viewed the
learners’ virtual experiences.
Prospective users of the Digital Automotive
Manufacturing Factory (DAMF) from TVET
colleges also experienced the modules and
provided positive feedback on the usage of VR
for complementing workshop-based training.
Potential clients, partners and supporters also
shared their contacts for further engagements
