The Decade of the Artisan
he merSETA “Decade of the Artisan”
advocacy programme aims to
Texpose high school learners to
TVET studies from as early as grades 9
to 11. The event provided a platform for
institutions from industry and academia to
demonstrate their capabilities to learners.
The learners interacted in “Try-a-skill”
exhibitions as officials from their respective
schools, the Department of Basic Education
(DBE), the Department of Higher Education
and Training (DHET) and the Wholesale and
Retail (W&R) SETA accompanied them. About
500 learners participated in the programme.
There were more than six stands for (i)
Automotive repair and fabrication, (ii) Plumbing,
(iii) Electrical wiring, (iv) the Automotive
Industry Development Corporation (AIDC), (v)
trade test centre partners, and (vi) FESTO.
