1. Tell us about yourself?
I am an accomplished, high energy Industrial
Engineer (Magister Technologiae) by
profession, with 15 years’ experience in multiple
industries, focusing on lean methodologies,
six sigma project management, supply chain
management currently heading up the IT and
Business Process team at the biggest waste
management company in South Africa. .
2. What do you believe is your
biggest challenge?
Being a workaholic, I’ve recently learnt the im-
portance of having a healthier work/home life
balance. We live in a highly paced environ-
SESSION ment where we always have to be on call and
PHYLLIS available. To remain productive, it’s important
to prioritise a healthy working and or studying
MOTHIBA lifestyle, which I never used to do. I am now work-
ing on improving my workaholic tendencies.
3. How would your professors describe you?
I actually asked Professor Mpofu and this is what he had to say: ‘’She is a go getter!
She is the type of student who knows what problem she wants to solve
and she will put in the sweat to achieve the goal with the right quality,
in the right time and at the optimal expense. I would supervise her any
day!’’
4. Are you interested in pursuing a doctoral degree?
What would be your reasons for your choice?
Yes, I would pursue a doctoral degree as it would give me an opportunity to contribute
to researching an issue I believe is important in South Africa. I believe students have
a responsibility to ensure that their research work positively impacts our country and
brings about a positive change.
